Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has not even turned 30 years old yet and he is already one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in the history of the league. And he’s about to make even more history.

As Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk points out, with one more win in the playoffs, Patrick Mahomes will tie Joe Montana for the second-most playoff wins of a starting quarterback.

“If the Chiefs win their divisional round playoff game, Mahomes will tie Joe Montana for the second-most playoff wins by a starting quarterback in NFL history. Montana won 14 playoff games with the 49ers and two with the Chiefs,” Smith wrote for Pro Football Talk this week.

“When Mahomes won his 15th postseason game in last year’s Super Bowl, he moved into third place all by himself, ahead of Peyton Manning, John Elway and Terry Bradshaw, who each won 14 postseason games in their careers.”

However, don’t expect Mahomes to take over the top spot anytime soon.

“Mahomes is still a very long way from catching Tom Brady, who has the all-time NFL record with 35 postseason wins. Mahomes would have to win three postseason games a year, every year, until 2031 to surpass Brady,” Smith wrote.

While it will take Mahomes a long time to top Brady for the most playoff wins in a career, he does have a very realistic shot at passing Brady on the list of all-time Super Bowl wins.

Brady obviously won seven Super Bowl titles throughout his storied NFL career. Mahomes already has three before his 30th birthday.

Regardless, Mahomes has already established himself as one of the best quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL.
