On Tuesday evening, reports surfaced revealing that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and teammate Patrick Mahomes were victims of a burglary at their homes. And it sounds like the investigation just got a lot more serious.

TMZ Sports reported on Tuesday afternoon that both Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were victims of break-ins while they were away from their homes for their game against the New Orleans Saints last month.

Police reports obtained by TMZ revealed that Kelce had $20,000 in cash stolen from his home and that his back door was damaged.

TMZ Sports went on to report that the FBI is joining local authorities in the investigation into the crimes.

“Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ … the FBI is assisting the Cass County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the Mahomes incident, and joining forces with the Leawood Police Department to probe the Kelce crime,” TMZ reported on

As TMZ reports, this indicates that the matter is quite a bit more serious than a simple burglary.

“The FBI getting involved means this is a pretty big deal, and not just because Patrick and Travis are famous athletes,” TMZ reported on Tuesday.

“Our sources tell us the feds would NOT get involved if this were a run of the mill burglary spree on the local level … and the FBI’s involvement here indicates the case could involve organized crime crossing state lines.”

Kelce actually moved to this house last year in search of more privacy after his relationship with Taylor Swift became public.

It’s not clear whether or not the FBI or local authorities have any leads or suspects in the case.
