Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark is one step closer to a suspension from the WNBA after she picked up yet another technical foul over the weekend.
During Sunday afternoon’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Seattle Storm, Caitlin Clark was given a technical foul in the third quarter when she smacked the padding underneath the basket in frustration after missing a three-point shot.
Clark expressed her frustration with the call after the game.
“I got a technical for basically being mad at myself because I missed a 3, and then I went and hit the backboard, and he told me it was disrespectful to the game of basketball,” Clark said postgame. “It reminded me of the technical I got in college, where I said ‘damn it,’ where it’s like a personal frustration. Had nothing to do with my team, had nothing to do with the reffing, had nothing to do with the other team. It’s just because I’m a competitor.”
The technical foul is a big deal for Clark as she is now at risk of suspension from the WNBA if she is not careful. In the WNBA, a player is suspended for one game after they pick up seven technical fouls in one season. After picking up her most recent on Sunday, Clark now has five technical fouls.
With over a month remaining in the season, Clark will have to try her best to avoid picking up more technical fouls and a suspension.
