Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso, a 20-year-old athlete who attends college in the United States and has grown a large following on social media, was reportedly kicked out of the Olympic Village at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games this week for creating an “inappropriate atmosphere.” Now, details are emerging about that situation.
On Monday, the Paraguayan Olympic Committee announced that Alonso had removed herself from the Olympic Village, saying that her presence was “creating an inappropriate atmosphere.”
“Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” Larissa Schaerer, the head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, said in a statement.
“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”
Now, details have emerged regarding just what this “inappropriate atmosphere” included. According to a report from the Daily Mail, Alonso was “accused of distracting other competitors” with her “skimpy clothing.”
“One of most glamorous competitors in the Olympics has been kicked out of the Athletes Village after being accused of distracting other competitors with her skimpy clothing and socialising with other athletes,” The Daily Mail reported. “Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso was told to leave after officials said she had created an ‘inappropriate atmosphere’ with her behaviour.”
“The stunning 20-year-old blonde, who lost her event on the first day of competition, had been seen walking round in her own choice of outfits rather than the official kit provided by Paraguayan team chiefs.”
Based on her social media activity, it seems tha Alonso has since returned to the United States where she attends school at SMU.
