Last week, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh had some high praise for Lamar Jackson as he said that the “vision” for Jackson is that he can become the greatest quarterback in NFL history – even better than Tom Brady. Jackson is happy to hear those words of support from his head coach, but he also acknowledges that he is a long way from Tom Brady.
During a recent press conference, Lamar Jackson gave his reaction to his head coach’s comments from last week as he made it very clear that despite what John Harbaugh may have said, Tom Brady is still the greatest player of all time.
“I appreciate that coming from coach,” Jackson said according to Clifton Brown of the team website. “Keep doing what I’m doing. Keep trying to get better. Keep trying to win these games. Keep trying to reach that goal.
“I’m not the GOAT [greatest of all time]. Tom Brady’s the GOAT. But I believe that’s motivation. I appreciate that. I’m still on my way.”
Brady is obviously the most accomplished player of all time, but Jackson has a unique blend of arm talent and athleticism that can help him create his own legacy. And it sounds like that’s the goal.
