Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is arguably the most dominant tight end in the history of the NFL, but it sounds like he’s still quite hard on himself.
During a recent press conference during Kansas City Chiefs training camp, Travis Kelce opened up about a pretty brutal truth as he explained just how hard he is on himself and the way he performs on the field.
“I’m my biggest critic,” Kelce told reporters during a press conference on Saturday, according to The Daily Mail.
“Nobody can tell me how bad I did on a play, I know it right away, as soon the play got over with. I know what I need to do to get better and everything,” he continued.
“It’s just — you have to have that certain mentality. Always finding ways to get better, even when you have success on a play. That’s just how I’ve went about it, and I got that from [coach Andy Reid], knowing that you can always do things better and you can always make somebody else’s job easier on this field.”
Clearly, that self-criticism has helped him become one of the most dominant players in the NFL, but that mentality is not always healthy.
