Earlier this year, Kansas City Chiefs star kicker Harrison Butker went viral for a controversial commencement speech at a Catholic college in which he criticized transgender people, mocked LGBTQ Pride Month, and suggested that the most important role for women is as homemakers. And he once again spoke out about his religious beliefs this weekend.
The 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony this weekend included drag queens among other performers appearing to parody the iconic painting “The Last Supper,” which is an iconic Renaissance painting showing Jesus sharing a final meal with his disciples before his crucifixion. And Harrison Butker did not seem too happy about the parody.
“This is crazy,” he wrote in a post in his Instagram Stories, according to Fox News.
He also shared some words from scripture, quoting Galatians 6:7 in the Bible.
“Be not deceived, God is not mocked,” Butker said.
Butker has never been shy about sharing his Catholic faith publicly as he has voiced his views and opinions a number of times throughout his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs. And based on recent months, it sounds like he isn’t going to stop sharing his faith, regardless of how much criticism he faces.
