Caitlin Clark was offered a chance to participate in the three-point contest at the WNBA All-Star Game this week. However, she declined to participate and her reason was simple: she just wanted to rest.
During a recent interview with reporters, Caitlin Clark opened up a little bit about why she chose to sit out the three-point shooting contest this year as she revealed that she wanted to rest and didn’t feel like she could prepare for the three-point contest.
“Honestly, I think just rest. I’ve been playing basketball for a year straight,” she told reporters. “That’s not an easy thing to just show up to and just shoot off of a rack. It’s not something I’ve ever done before. It’s not something I’ve had a lot of time to practice. I’ve been busy helping my team win games.”

Unlike most players in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark did not really have much of an offseason or ramp-up period before the season. Given that her college basketball season ended in mid-April and the WNBA season began in early May, Clark really didn’t have a chance to rest at all between the two seasons. So now, she’s taking any rest she can get.
“The biggest thing for me, I need a break. I need to take some time to myself and enjoy what I want to do,” she explained. “At times that can be tough given the position that I’m in, but I think it’s going to be healthiest for me too.”
Clark will likely have more chances to participate in the three-point contest in future seasons.
