The New York Yankees have been mired in a lot of struggle lately. Especially offensively. While the Yankees have stood atop or near the top in the American League East this season, June wasn’t kind to them. July hasn’t been kind either.

The Yankees fell 8-4 on Thursday to the Cincinnati Reds in another dispiriting showing. New York collected seven hits in the game but fell behind early yet again. This time, though, they were mostly stymied throughout and hardly put up a fight.

Things have gone bad in a hurry. So much so that on Thursday, superstar Aaron Judge’s personal hitting coach chimed in on the situation.

In response to commentary by Michael Kay, saying that when Judge hits, the team wins, his coach Richard Schenck, said, “They’ve lost 13 out of 18 while he’s hitting like an MVP. The Yankees offensive player development is terrible.”

Those are pretty strong words. However, Yankee fans were more than ready to agree with the assessment.
