Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been rivals for several years going back to their NCAA Tournament battles at the college level. But later this month, they will be something quite a bit different – teammates. And Clark offered her reaction to the idea of playing with Angel Reese for the first time.
On Tuesday night, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese were both named to the WNBA All-Star Team where they will be teammates as they take on the United States Women’s National Team ahead of the team’s trip to the Paris Olympics.
During an interview, Clark made it clear that while she is excited about the honor and playing alongside Reese, she hopes that storyline doesn’t detract from the praise for the other players.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been her teammate before, even at USA Basketball. I know people will be really excited about it, but I hope it doesn’t take away from everyone else,” Clark said according to ESPN. “This is a huge accomplishment for everybody on Team USA and everyone on Team WNBA. They all deserve the same praise. I don’t want it to take away from any of that and be the focal point of All-Star weekend because that’s not fair to them.”
The game will take place on July 20th in Phoenix.
