On Sunday afternoon, Caitlin Clark had one of the most well-rounded performances of her young WNBA career as she nearly put up the first triple-double of her professional career. And it sounds like she did it all despite an illness.
Caitlin Clark helped lead the Indiana Fever to an 88-82 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday afternoon as she finished the game just one rebound shy of the first triple-double of her WNBA career, totaling 15 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds in the game.
After the game, Fever head coach Christie Sides revealed that she did all of that while dealing with an apparent illness that was bad enough that she needed to see the trainer after the game.
“Yeah I think she didn’t feel well throughout the entire game, so she’s with our trainer right now,” Sides said after the game according to On3.
Clark did not have the chance to cap off her triple-double as she was subbed out of the game in the final minute for a defensive substitution. But based on this strong start to her career, it’s probably safe to say that she will have more opportunities to notch a triple-double in the near future.
