Across professional sports, it’s pretty common for more veteran players to offer advice and support for the younger rookies when they join the league, even if they’re on opposing teams. But it doesn’t seem like Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has received that sort of warm reception from the league.
During a recent interview, Caitlin Clark was asked what sort of advice she has received from some of the more veteran players during games – under the assumption that she had indeed received some advice.
But in a pretty sad twist, Clark revealed that she doesn’t actually get any advice from more veteran players during games.
"What's the best advice a vet has given you in [a] game this season?"
Caitlin Clark: "Nobody gives me advice in games. I wish."

“Nobody gives me advice in games,” Clark said with a little bit of a knowing smile.
“I wish,” she continued, indicating that she would like some of the veteran players to take her under their wings.
Clark is obviously the most high-profile rookie ever to enter the league, which probably plays a role in the cold attitude the WNBA veterans have toward her.
Needless to say, it’s pretty sad news for Clark that she has not received the veteran guidance that she clearly wants, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.
This has been an issue in the W long before her, but she's so major everyone can see it now. The NBA they teach young players. CP3 after a game taught Tatum what a 2 for 1 was. They use the Olympics team to teach young stars instead of leaving them off the roster too. https://t.co/OQiHENFjat

That’s a pretty horrible look for #WNBa vets https://t.co/RvLTsaSsI7

Nobody even paid attention to the #WNBA until she showed up.
They should be coming to her for advice. https://t.co/T0poxs3XIe

Dang.. This ain’t right 🫤
The Vets in the W gotta stop with the hate and accept the fact that she is the FUTURE and they all have a chance to be a part of her journey 🙏🏾 https://t.co/ZdmPvGQUTh

This is sad for a 22 year old to be experiencing what seems to be real loneliness. Everyone on her team needs to step back and figure out how to change the narrative with her. They miscalculated her transition to the WNBA at every turn. Leaned into the savior role without… https://t.co/e1CrdCJZF2

I do feel bad for CC . The pressure and constant narratives thrown at her . She also needs to take accountability as well and be more vocal & welcoming to other players . https://t.co/7m21PsqDrv

the WNBA and the Indiana Fever could not have fumbled the beginning of her pro career any harder https://t.co/4QnnOHUCE9

We’ll have to see if things change as she proves herself in the league.
