Earlier this offseason, the Cincinnati Bengals used their franchise tag on star wide receiver Tee Higgins to keep him on the roster throughout the 2024 season on a one-year deal. Higgins had declined to sign the franchise tender up to this point, but now that the team’s offseason workouts are concluded, Higgins has indeed made the deal official.

With the team’s mandatory minicamp officially concluded, Tee Higgins formally signed his franchise tender this week and is expected to report to the team’s preseason camp to prepare for the upcoming season. And it sounds like the team is quite excited to have him re-joining the team.

“I’m excited to move forward with Tee,” head coach Zac Taylor said in a statement according to Pro Football Talk. “He’s done a great job handling his situation, and we are happy to get him back in the fold so we can start working toward a great 2024 season. The locker room will be excited to have him back around.”

Higgins and the Bengals have had a bit of a tumultuous offseason. After the team initially placed the franchise tag on Higgins several months ago, he requested a trade from the team, claiming that there had not been long-term contract talks in over a year at that point.

It’s not clear whether or not the team and Higgins are any closer to working out a long-term deal, but he will at least be staying with Cincinnati this season.
