Over the past several years, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have formed quite a rivalry stemming back to the 2022 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Title Game when Reese famously mocked Clark as her LSU Tigers beat Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes. That rivalry added another chapter this week, leading Clark to speak on it.
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever took on Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Sunday afternoon, reigniting the rivalry once again at the professional level. And after the game, which the Fever won by a final score of 91-83, Clark had a pretty clear message for Reese about just what she thinks about their rivalry.
“I think it’s just the emotion and the passion that we play with. I think people love to see that. And I think that’s maybe not something that was always appreciated in women’s sports and it should be,” Clark said according to Stephen Holder of ESPN.
Clark has never been shy about discussing the rivalry between the two players while also expressing the respect that she has for Reese as a fellow competitor. These comments are yet another sign of that respect while acknowledging the competition between the two.
Given the talent both players possess, it seems like this will be a rivalry for years to come.
