Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott faces a bit of a brutal situation this upcoming season as he is headed into the final season of his contract with the team without the security of a long-term contract extension. It’s a bit of an uncomfortable situation with so much uncertainty hanging over him and so much to prove this season, but he doesn’t really sound all that worried about it.
During a recent press conference, Dak Prescott made it clear that he is embracing the uncomfortable situation, saying that he is “a gambling man” and is willing to “gamble on myself and my guys.”
“It’s just the urgency that you should always have, to be honest,” Prescott said according to Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press. “So, maybe guys who normally wouldn’t feel it, feel it. So, I don’t mind it. I’ve been in this position before. I’m a gambling man. Will gamble on myself and my guys.”
Currently, it seems like the Cowboys are set to allow Prescott to play out his contract and become a free agent following the season, at which point he could re-sign with the Cowboys or explore his other options with other teams. If that’s the case, this will be a big year for Prescott to prove what he’s worth on the free agent market.
