During his time as the head coach of the New York Jets the past few seasons, head coach Robert Saleh has largely stayed away from the offensive side of the ball as a defensive-minded coach. But with the team looking to revitalize its offense, it sounds like that is no longer the case.
During a recent interview, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that Robert Saleh has become much more involved on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, even though he has never worked with offense full-time in his NFL coaching career.
“As a defensive coach, he’s been in that room a lot, but he’s been kind of sitting over to the left of me a good amount of the offseason so far,” Rodgers said according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. “So we appreciate his influence. He’s brought some really good ideas to the table.”
And it sounds like Saleh is actually contributing to what the team is trying to do on offense.
“He’s added a lot of interesting stuff that you’ll see throughout the OTAs and training camp, which I think would be pretty cool for us,” Rodgers said.
Obviously, it’s pretty shocking news that Saleh seems to be taking over the role of overseeing the offense considering he has very little experience coaching the offensive side of the ball, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.
