The Los Angeles Lakers officially saw their season come to a close on Monday night when they fell to the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 of the NBA Playoffs first round by a score of 108 to 106. Given the loss and the current contract situation for LeBron James, there’s a chance he just played his final game with the Lakers. But he didn’t want to talk about that after the game.
In his postgame press conference, LeBron James was asked about his plans for next season, but he punted on answering the question.
“I don’t have an answer … to be honest. I haven’t given it much thought,” James said according to ESPN.
James has until June 29 to either opt into his current contract or opt-out and become an unrestricted free agent. But he was not willing to discuss the situation during the postgame press conference, simply saying that he would meet with his agent and his family and “do what’s best for my career.”
“We’ll cross that when we need to,” James said.
James was then asked directly whether or not he had considered that he could have played his final game as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I’m not going to answer that,” James said.
