Nick Allegretti spent his first five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs where he saw the team play for four Super Bowls and win three of them. He was even in the starting lineup for the most recent win. As he now heads for another opportunity with the Washington Commanders, it sounds like he’s nothing but grateful for the time he spent in Kansas City.
Allegretti started the Super Bowl LVIII showdown against the San Francisco 49ers in place of injured Chiefs’ All-Pro guard Joe Thuney and helped lead the team to victory. And even though he has great memories with the Chiefs, he’s now signing with the Commanders to be a full-time starter.
“I have a ton of respect for the guys in Kansas City,” Allegretti said according to the Washington Commanders team website. “I enjoyed my role there, but I think I had gotten to the point in my career where I wanted to come and be a starter in Week One. That’s my goal coming to Washington.”
Allegretti started 18 games during his five-year career with the Chiefs, but he’s now in search of a more full-time starting role that he simply wasn’t going to get with the Chiefs.
