The Pittsburgh Steelers have completely revamped their quarterback room this offseason, parting ways with Kenny Pickett, Mitchell Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph and bringing in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. And it sounds like yet another veteran quarterback is set to arrive in Pittsburgh, as well.
According to a report from Pittsburgh Steelers insider Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are signing veteran quarterback Kyle Allen to the roster to add a little bit of much-needed depth to the position.
“Steelers are signing former Bills QB Kyle Allen to backup Russell Wilson and Justin Fields,” Dulac said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, Allen is not expected to be the team’s starter or even the backup with both Wilson and Fields on the roster, but his signing still generated quite a bit of buzz on social media as a result.
It has been 66 years since the last time the Steelers completely gutted the QB position. In 1957, they brought in Earl Morrall, Len Dawson and Jack Kemp to replace Ted Marchibroda and Jack Scarbath. Otherwise, there was always at least one holdover. https://t.co/HDryzjnIqm

It doesn't look like the Steelers will be drafting a QB this year. https://t.co/uuAaFRpc55

Kyle Allen is a solid #3 for the Steelers. Has NFL starter experience and is still only 28. https://t.co/e3WUHSFdl9

Can he catch a pass?

Removes the need to draft a QB and focus on other positions. Solid move

Allen spent last season with the Buffalo Bills where he served as the backup quarterback for star starter Josh Allen.
While he won’t be the starter in Pittsburgh, Allen does have plenty of experience at the quarterback postion, starting 19 games throughout his career. Allen posted a record of 7-12 in those games.
