Former United States President Donald Trump finds himself in a pretty sticky and expensive situation after he was hit with a $464 million judgment for fraudulently inflating the values of his properties and assets – including his prestigious golf courses. And it seems he has been caught in a pretty significant lie.
Ever since Donald Trump was hit with the $464 million judgment, Trump and his legal team have insisted that Trump did not have enough cash in hand to cover the sum and would need a bond to cover the judgment while he appeals the decision.
But in a post on social media this week, Trump suggested that he actually has nearly $500 million in cash, which he was planning to use for his presidential campaign.
“THROUGH HARD WORK, TALENT, AND LUCK, I CURRENTLY HAVE ALMOST FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS IN CASH, A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF WHICH I INTENDED TO USE IN MY CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
So either Trump and his legal team were lying when they suggested that he didn’t have the money to cover the $464 million judgment or Trump is now lying when he claims that he has nearly $500 million in cash.
Regardless, if Trump does not come up with the $464 million by Monday, New York Attorney General Letitia James can begin seizing his assets that were found to have had “fraudulent” and “misleading” values, which includes 10 of his golf courses, which are some of the best in the world and have hosted various professional golf events.
James has already taken the initial steps toward seizing Trump National Golf Course in Briarcliff Manor.
