The Kansas City Chiefs are going for their third-straight Super Bowl title next season, and it sounds like they’re going to go all-in on trying to reach that historic milestone.
According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs are restructuring the contract of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes to free up over $20 million in salary cap space for this upcoming season.
“Patrick Mahomes will be restructuring his contract to create an additional $21.6 million worth of salary-cap space for the Chiefs as they aim to become the first NFL team to three-peat, per league sources,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Of course, this move doesn’t simply get rid of the salary cap obligation, it just moves it to a different season. The Chiefs will now have more dead salary cap space in the following years as a result of this move.
That means that this decision can be seen as the Chiefs going all-in on a three-peat next season, and the NFL world had a lot to say about that insane news on Twitter.
