When the Denver Broncos chose to bench starting quarterback Russell Wilson for the final few games of the regular season, it seemed like a pretty clear sign that the team was looking to part ways with the veteran quarterback during the offseason. But it sounds like Wilson would still like to remain in Denver – but he also acknowledges that might be impossible.
During a recent interview with Brandon Marshall for his I Am Athlete podcast, Russell Wilson sent a pretty clear message to the Denver Broncos, saying that he wants to win two Super Bowl championships in the next fix years, and he hopes those victories come with the Denver Broncos.
“I hope it’s in Denver,” Wilson said according to Romi Bean of CBS News Colorado. “I love the city and everything else, but you also want to be in a place that wants you too.”
Russell Wilson’s goal:
Win 2 championships in the next 5 years. “I hope it’s in Denver…. I love the city and everything else, but you also want to be in a place that wants you too.” https://t.co/nhogOv0UX2— Romi Bean (@Romi_Bean) February 25, 2024
The Denver Broncos have not formally announced a decision on Wilson’s future with the team, but the team is widely expected to part ways with Wilson this offseason.
We’ll have to see whether or not the team does choose to move on from Wilson. If that does happen, it will be interesting to see where he lands next.
