The Ohio State Buckeyes are on pace to miss the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. As a result, it sounds like the team has decided to part ways with head coach Chris Holtmann immediately instead of waiting until the end of the season.

According to a report from college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Ohio State has decided to part ways with Chris Holtmann after another disappointing season.

“BREAKING: Ohio State has parted ways with Chris Holtmann, source told @TheFieldOf68. Holtmann went to the NCAA tourney in each of his first 4 years with the Buckeyes, and was set to go the year the tourney was canceled. Went all 3 years at Butler and went to Sweet 16. Buckeyes has taken nose-dive the last two years and Gene Smith decided to make move now,” Goodman said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

While many expected this move to happen at some point, it was a pretty sudden change for the Buckeyes in the middle of the season, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

It will certainly be interesting to see where Ohio State turns after this.
