San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody is in his rookie season playing and is set to play in the Super Bowl. It’s obviously a lot of pressure for a young player, but he sounds ready for anything he could face on Sunday.
Even though Jake Moody is now kicking at the NFL level, he points out that not much has changed apart from the fact that his team is playing more close games.
“It’s no different than in college. The posts are the same size. Ball is the same,” Moody said according to NFL Media. “Holder and snapper are just as good, if not better in the NFL. Situationally, I guess it can be a little bit different. There’s a lot more games that are decided by one or two scores as opposed to college. . . . It’s something that you learn, just being in those situations, you kind of learn how to deal with it, mindset.”
But as he prepares for the added pressure of kicking in the Super Bowl, he sounds ready and is just going to rely on his fundamentals.
“I’ve been in a bunch of big games, whether it’s been in college or the NFL now, going through the playoffs. I feel like I’m prepared for it,” Moody said. “It’s the same kick. Just trust the routine; trust the process. It’s no different than any other kick.”
We’ll have to see how he performs on Sunday.
