During Sunday night’s win over the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce connected for a touchdown that gave them a postseason record previously owned by Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. And it sounds like Mahomes is honored to have that record.
Patrick Mahomes found Travis Kelce for two touchdowns on Sunday night giving the duo 16 career playoff touchdowns, putting them ahead of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski for the most career postseason touchdowns for the same quarterback and receiver.
During his postgame press conference following the win over the Bills, Mahomes made it clear how much it means to him to pass Brady and Gronkowski for this record, and he had a pretty clear message to Brady, saying “Tom is the greatest.”
“We always emphasize getting the ball to Travis,” Mahomes said according to Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star. “Passing anything that has Brady and Gronk in it is special. Those are two of the greatest players — and Tom is the greatest — so you appreciate that.”
Brady is currently considered the greatest player of all time – and for good reason. But if Mahomes keeps up his dominance, he might have a claim to that title when all is said and done.
