David Axelrod, one of the most trusted advisors to former president Barack Obama, is being dragged through the mud on social media after the Kanas City Chiefs defeated the Miami Dolphins in the opening weekend of the NFL playoffs.
Axelrod previously wondered out loud when pop icon Taylor Swift would be blamed for the Chiefs’ season-ending struggles.
“At some point it has to be asked: is Taylor Swift killing the @Chiefs?” Axelrod wrote on X, previously known as Twitter, on December 31st.
The Chiefs destroyed the Dolphins, 26-6, at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday in a game that featured blistering cold weather and historic low temperatures.
Fans did not let Axelrod forget his attempt to blame Swift for the Chiefs’ struggles, either.
“Somehow, it’s the woman’s fault,” wrote one angry X user.
“I’m so tired of the fragility of men. It’s embarrassing. Just let women exist. Enough. Women including themselves in your favorite activity doesn’t automatically make it worse. Grow up,” wrote another user.
“Really hope this is tongue in cheek because ain’t no way we’re blaming a woman in the stands for the bad play of the football team for whom her boyfriend plays. And even if it is. Bad taste,” said one fan.
