During Monday afternoon’s disappointing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce was seen slamming his helmet on the ground in frustration. And it sounds like he wasn’t necessarily proud of the moment.

After the incident, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid prevented the team’s equipment manager from returning the helmet to Kelce before he was able to talk to him. And Kelce respected that move from Reid and made it clear that he regretted his outburst.

“He’s looking out for me, and I love him for it,” Kelce said according to ESPN. “I didn’t go back out there and play good. He wanted to see the fire in me, and I reacted in a bad way. He wanted to just get the best out of me. And right now, I’m just not playing my best football and I got to [freaking] lock the [expletive] in and be more accountable for him. Be more accountable for my teammates. I got to keep my [freaking] cool, man, because as a leader on this team, that’s not how you switch the momentum.”

Kelce and the Chiefs will look to rebound from the disappointing loss this week with a showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.
