Houston Texans rookie superstar quarterback C.J. Stroud has yet to clear concussion protocol after suffering a major blow to the head during the team’s 30-6 loss to the New York Jets, and it sounds like the team is making some moves to bolster the quarterback position in his absence.
According to a report for Houston Texans beat writer Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the Houston Texans have signed former New York Jets quarterback Tim Boyle to their practice squad as C.J. Stroud continues to progress through concussion protocol.
“Sources: #Texans sign QB Tim Boyle to practice squad after workout with C.J. Stroud still dealing with concussion symptoms and Case Keenum prepping and expected to start second game in a row Sunday against #Browns @KPRC2,” Wilson wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s worth noting that Boyle is not expected to be on the team’s active roster even if Stroud is still unable to play this week. Boyle is expected to remain behind quarterbacks Case Keenum and Davis Mills on the team’s depth chart.
Still, his addition to the roster will provide some much-needed depth at the game’s most important position.
