JCPenny definitely has a stigma for not “being cool,” but in my opinion this advertisement should take care of that very quickly. Whatever advertising/marketing exec thought this up should be getting a raise at the end of the next fiscal year. Recognizing that guys don;t like watching the same ads for clothes over and over they created a split screen which allows one half of the screen to play the Mike Tyson v. Marvin Frazier fight and the other half to run the ads for clothes. An extra win is having Kenny Mayne in the advertisement. I’m not sure how this will translate into men’s clothes sales, but this is a great opportunity of out of the box thinking.
