New York Yankees World Series champion David Wells had a pretty strong message for Nike and Colin Kaepernick this week.
During a recent interview with Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo on Mornings with Maria, David Wells had a pretty brutal message for America’s top sportswear company.
“I hate Nike,” Wells said.
And there’s one big reason why Wells hates Nike: Colin Kaepernick.
“When Kaepernick took the knee, and you know, against our national anthem—and I’m a huge, huge military supporter; that’s what my foundation is all about—for Nike to jump on board and reward this guy for that, you know, and the things that are going on,” Wells said according to Fox News. “I told myself if I was playing in today’s game, and we had Nike jerseys, I’d tape it up, I’d cut a hole in it.”
These comments come after Wells taped over the Nike logo on the New York Yankees jersey during a recent appearance at Yankees’ Old Timers Day.
It’s a pretty clear message to both Nike and Colin Kaepernick, and people had plenty to say about it on social media.
David Wells is a dumb redneck? Shocking. https://t.co/JhbgsJ1QmX

It’s safe to say that Wells will not be wearing Nike clothing anytime soon.
