Kanye West is trying to set up arguably the unlikeliest meeting of all time. The rapper told TMZ he wants Colin Kaepernick and Donald Trump to meet at the White House to talk about their issues.
West, wearing a Make America Great Again Hat, spoke with Harvey Levin on TMZ Live, where the rapper said he’s been calling Kaepernick in hopes of setting up a meeting.
“I’ve been calling Colin this morning, reaching him, so I can bring Colin to the White House. And we can remove that ‘sons of bitches’ statement and we could be on the same page.”
I highly, highly doubt Kaepernick would take the meeting considering Trump’s stance on player’s kneeling on the anthem and comments he made calling those who did “sons of bitches.” There’s practically no incentive for him doing so.
In theory, Kanye’s idea of brokering peace between the two is a good idea. But, in reality, it’s entirely not needed and harmful to Kaepernick’s beliefs and brand. There’s no changing either party’s minds. So why even bother?
Kanye doesn’t get it. He’s just promoting Trump and continuing to give off a faux-wokeness. He’s unpredictable and largely nonsensical. I assume Kaepernick would react to his call with contempt.
