The NFL offseason is a peculiar time as teams try to put their plans into action. Whether it is rebuilding or possibly even just reloading, you can see players moving teams often.
In the case of cornerback Richard Sherman, it will be especially weird to see him not in a Seattle Seahawks uniform. He is a name that you associate with the team and vice a versa.
It makes sense why some fans would be upset that he is leaving the team. The problem with his move though is that Sherman wasn’t in control of the move. The Seahawks were the people in charge of letting him go.
Nonetheless, Sherman’s jersey was burned like many others before him.

In a conversation with Peter King, Sherman laid out why people shouldn’t be angry with him specifically.
“I love the fan base to death, and I loved playing there,” Sherman said. “It was such a great opportunity. I helped the organization get to a great place and stay there. But now it’s like I abandoned them. People are out there burning my jersey. Come on. I’m not the one who let me go. They let me go. I didn’t abandon anybody.”
While burning a players’ jersey feels like the right move, sometimes you need to get all of the information correct before making such a hasty decision.
