Kobe Bryant has received plenty of tributes and gifts during his on-going NBA retirement tour, but it is probably safe to say that the Black Mamba won’t receive many gifts like the ones that Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony gave to Kobe over the All-Star Weekend.
According to TMZ, the three NBA superstars gave Kobe a somewhat informal roast while they presented him with many luxurious gifts, including a Netflix subscription, a walking cane and some “Black Mamba underwear.”
Other presents that were given to Kobe that night included a pair of reading glasses, some Preparation H, compression socks and a TV remote.
The gathering took place on Sunday. Bryant definitely seemed to enjoy spending time with his soon-to-be-former-peers.
“It was really special,” Bryant told The Associated Press on Sunday night after scoring 10 points in his last All-Star appearance, a 196-173 win for the West over the East. “Those are the things you don’t get a chance to hear when you’re competing against each other. To hear those stories now, you have such a deep sense of appreciation and such a brotherhood from all the years of competing against each other. It just felt good.”
The dinner was supposed to be a private affair, but TMZ was able to get their hands on some video from the gathering. Based on the footage, CP3, D-Wade and Melo may want to explore careers in comedy when their NBA careers are said and done.
