Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut has revealed plans and some designs for eco-villages that will be located under the sea off the coast of Rio de Jinero. The plans for the project, named Aequorea, also include using some of the plastic from the Garbage Island in the Pacific Ocean.
On the architect’s website, more 3D renderings of the villages are detailed as well as a letter, penned by a fictional 15 year old from the year 2065, which describes life in the villages and why the creators of the village did what they did.
The letter, and the mindset of the fictional kid, remind me a little of the original Bioshock game which took place in an underwater city named Rapture. Rapture was created for men and women to escape the ideals of the western world and looked down at the rest of society for not sharing the same ideals.
For some more renderings and for the letter, go to the official website.
