The Cavaliers continue their spending spree as they agree to a four-year, $40 million dollar deal with restricted free agent Iman Shumpert. The contract includes a player option on the fourth season.

Shumpert’s return to Cleveland comes as no surprise, especially considering how well he and LeBron James got along and the dearth of wing defenders on the Cavaliers. Danny Green’s four-year, $45 million deal with the Spurs might make it look like Cleveland overpaid the shooting guard, but considering the massive amount of money coming into the league the next couple years and how much the league values three-and-D players, it looks like he’s being fairly compensated.
Resigning Shumpert will go under the radar this free agency, but the Cavaliers would have lost a lot if they didn’t resign him.
