After separate incidents involving Taj Gibson, Kyle Korver and Al Horford, the spotlight has shone bright on Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova’s reputation as a dirty player. While that reputation is up for debate, Atlanta Hawks broadcaster Steve Holman (aka, “The Voice of the Hawks”) made his opinion known when Dellavedova checked in to Game 4 on Tuesday night.
Dellavedova checks into the game for Kyrie Irving. Hawks radio broadcast says “Tonya Harding” checking in.

LOL at @RealVoiceofHawk referring to Dellavedova as “Tonya Harding”

For those of you living under a rock the past two-plus decades (or, too young to remember), the Harding reference recalls the time a couple of goons associated with Olympic figure skater Tony Harding were involved in an attack on Nancy Kerrigan’s knee prior to the 1994 Winter Olympics. Meanwhile, the Cavs walloped the Hawks 118-88 to finish off a four-game sweep. They now get nine days’ rest (NINE!) before facing the Warriors (very likely) or Rockets (very unlikely) in the NBA Finals. Maybe that will be enough time for people to forget about Dellavedova’s transgressions.
