Every scandal creates opportunities and football manufacturer Big Game USA has made a football that capitalizes on the frenzy surrounding Deflategate and proper football inflation.

The company has created a football with new technology that constantly checks whether a football’s PSI is above 12.5 PSI and has an indicator on the ball that glows when it is properly inflated.

Per Big Game USA:

Game footballs are required to be inflated to at least 12.5 PSI according to collegiate and professional rules. When a Vairifty™ equipped football has 12.5 PSI or more, a green Vairify™ check mark will appear on the surface of the football. If the football isn’t properly inflated, the Vairify™ check mark will not be shown.

Big Game USA is one of the leading producers of NCAA footballs but Chris Calandro, the owner of the company, states that no teams have taken him up on his new footballs yet.

“We haven’t heard from the NCAA or any of the teams we supply footballs to that this is going to happen at the collegiate level.”

The Vairify technology is patent-pending, which means that Big Game USA may not be able to start producing the inflation-checking footballs until the fall of 2016.

Of course, Big Game USA hasn’t figured out how to read if a ball is over-inflated, so we are all still at risk over a potential “Inflategate.”
