It was 35 years ago today when (Dr.) Julius Erving made one of the most iconic plays in NBA history, and you can relive it with video and a very cool set of images from the NBA.
The play happened against the Lakers in the 1980 Finals, and it is still mind-blowing. Erving blew by Mark Landsberger and somehow nearly was stopped by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long arms, but Irving somehow stayed in the air long enough to scoop it up and in from the other side of the rim.
The NBA took to their Instagram account today to post a set of images from the play which have been rarely seen.
