The Spurs Kawhi Leonard was named the NBA’s 2014-15 Defensive Player of the Year this week and on Thursday he received the award in person. During the ceremony however a gentleman from Kia was presenting the award to Kawhi and accidentally (we think) called him “Kia Leonard.”
It doesn’t matter if it was planned or a slip of the tongue, because the folks at Kia are ending up with some solid publicity courtesy of the flub. At some point brands are going to need to manufacture more of these public television mistakes just to get their name in the press.
LOL, Kawhi's mom couldn't help teasing Kia exec over botching name. "How do you pronounce Kawhi?"
