Kevin Garnett is one of only a half-dozen NBA players who possess the highly-coveted no-trade clause. On Thursday, just moments before the NBA trade deadline, Garnett officially waived that clause to enable a swap between the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nets will receive Thaddeus Young from the T-Wolves, while Garnett will head back to the city where he began his career at age 19, after being drafted straight out of high school (Farragut Career Academy). Minnesota will presumably (if not appropriately) be the last stop in Garnett’s 20-year career, especially considering he is now reunited with the coach who brought him his greatest success in Minnesota, Flip Saunders. Garnett’s T-Wolves’ career peaked in 2004 when he won his lone MVP award, while also leading the team to its only conference finals appearance in franchise history.
