While most of the controversy around the officiating in the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions Wild Card playoff game has focused on the picked-up flag for pass interference, there was actually another non-call which had huge implications for the outcome of the game.
On a dramatic fourth down with six minutes to go in the game, Tony Romo found Jason Witten for a 21 yard gain.
It was a clutch play by Romo which would extend the drive and eventually culminate in Romo’s go-ahead touchdown pass to Terrance Williams. It also probably shouldn’t have happened. According to Adam Schefter, the NFL has admitted that Ndamukong Suh was held on the fourth down play and that the Cowboys drive should have probably stalled right there.
So, yeah. Add this to your tin foil hat theories.
