J.J. Watt terrorizing quarterbacks isn’t anything new. It’s what the guy does for a living. Yet, it’s a bit more newsworthy when Watt sacks a quarterback, celebrates by posing for a “selfie” with the poor body that he just demolished and then explains his entire thought process to the media afterwards.

Poor Zach Mettenberger never had a chance on Sunday.

Watt sacked him twice, knocked down a pass and forced a fumble but all that anyone will remember is the “selfie” celebration, which Watt did to mock Mettenberger’s propensity for the social media equivalent of naval gazing:

“It’s just kind of a reminder, this is the National Football League, not high school,” Watt said. “Welcome to the show.”

“If I was a rookie quarterback being named the starter for the first time in the league, I feel like I’d be a little bit more focused than that. Maybe he’ll learn from it, maybe not.”

Mettenberger may want to lay off posting pictures of himself on the internet before he faces the Texans again. This sort of punishment on and off the field isn’t worth a couple of likes.
