After years and years and years of sucking something awful, the Pittsburgh Pirates clinched their second consecutive playoff playoff appearance (at least a spot in the Wild Card play-in game) last night, and they proceeded to celebrate accordingly. Some people (like this guy) like to complain about baseball teams partying hard to celebrate making the postseason, but I am not one of those people…especially when you’re as good at partying as the Pirates are.
The Major League Baseball season is a grind – often even for us fans – and making the playoffs is a pretty significant accomplishment, so forgive me if I find it hard to take issue with players letting loose a little bit once they’ve accomplished something worth celebrating.
And, seeing how the Pirates celebrate a Wild Card spot, I’m officially jumping on the bandwagon just to witness the party that would follow a World Series title.
