The baseball world lost a beloved superstar on Monday morning when Tony Gwynn passed away at the age of 54 after his battle with salivary gland cancer.
A first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee in 2007, Gwynn spent his entire 20-year MLB career with the Padres and finished a .338 hitter with eight NL batting titles, 15 All-Star selections and five Gold Gloves.
Though he recently stepped away on medical leave, he was also the head baseball coach for San Diego State University.
RIP Mr. Padre, you’re going to be missed dearly.
