That’s former major leaguer Kazuhito Tadano, now with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan, tossing the best eephus pitch of the year in a recent showdown against Mauro Gomez. Tadano’s soft toss ascended to an unparalleled altitude before plummeting into the catcher’s glove as Gomez could do nothing but watch in utter shock.

The pitch certainly looked to be a strike to me (the catcher seemed to think so too, judging from how long he held the glove) but the umpire called it a ball. What a party pooper.
