Carmelo Anthony started Friday night’s game against the Bobcats hot and he never looked back. He had 20 points in the first quarter on 8-10 shooting. He scored 37 first half points, capped off by a “this night belongs to me” half court buzzer beater.
He ended his evening scoring 62 points, giving him ownership of the Knicks’ scoring record, once held by Bernard King (60 pts). It’s also the highest scoring effort in Madison Square Garden History (Kobe Bryant, 61 pts).
Other Knicks players to drop more than 50 points are Allan Houston and Patrick Ewing.
It’s been a disastrous season for the Knicks and Friday evening brought some much needed excitement at home.
