This video should serve as a “Don’t Text and Drive” ad for the next handful of years. It comes from the dashcam of a Fort Myers Police Department vehicle that was tailing a car that was driving erratically and having some trouble staying between the lines. The driving was actually so bad that one of my first thoughts watching the video was “is this guy drunk?”
But, no, he was actually texting while behind the wheel and the police officer wanted to let him rack up a few violations before pulling him over. However, thanks to one of the worst turns in the history of motor vehicle operation, the texting driver took himself off the road before the cop could.
Fortunately, nobody got hurt. Hopefully this guy learned his lesson because next time he (or somebody else) may not be so lucky.
