Earlier this year, it was revealed that former football superstar and notorious murder suspect O.J. Simpson was battling cancer, and it seems that he has now lost that battle at the age of 76 – but that didn’t stop the social media world from brutally mocking him online.

On Thursday morning, the family of O.J. Simpson made a post on his social media account announcing that he had “succumbed to his battle with cancer” on Wednesday.

“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace,” The Simpson Family said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

While Simpson was a superstar on the football field, winning the Heisman Trophy with the USC Trojans and the NFL MVP with the Buffalo Bills, he is also one of the most notorious murder suspects of all time.

Simpson was infamously arrested and charged with murdering his wife and her friend back in 1994. After what was called “The Trial of the Century,” Simpson was ultimately acquitted of the charges.

But that never stopped anybody from mocking Simpson when he was alive, and it didn’t stop them from mocking him in death, either.

It’s safe to say that Simpson’s death was not met with quite the same reverence as most.
