Over the past few years, there has been a lot of speculation about whether or not the Arizona Cardinals intended to stick with Kyler Murray as the team’s starting quarterback. With the Cardinals currently holding the No. 4 pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, there was some speculation that they could decide to use that pick on a quarterback. But based on a recent announcement, it doesn’t sound like that will be the case.

As the NFL world prepares for the upcoming NFL Combine and the eventual NFL Draft later in the spring, the Arizona Cardinals are seemingly affirming their commitment to Kyler Murray as their “franchise” quarterback.

“Our franchise QB,” the Arizona Cardinals official account said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s worth noting that even if the Cardinals wanted to move on from Murray this offseason, it wouldn’t be easy.

Murray is currently on a $230.5 million contract that runs through the 2028 season. $35.3 million of that salary is already guaranteed next season, and another $11.9 million of that money will become fully guaranteed for 2025 if he’s on the roster on March 17, 2024.

So if the Cardinals do not have a plan to move on from him by now, it makes sense that he’ll remain the starter.
