During the first half of Sunday night’s Super Bowl LVIII showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce caused quite a stir when he got into an altercation with head coach Andy Reid on the sideline after a Kansas City turnover. But it doesn’t sound like there’s any bad blood between the two.

During his press conference, Andy Reid showed nothing but love for Travis Kelce when asked about the incident, indicating that he thinks the incident looked worse than it was simply because he didn’t see Kelce coming and sending a clear message for support to his star player.

“He caught me off balance,” Reid said according to ESPN. “I wasn’t watching. He was really coming over [and saying], ‘Just put me in, I’ll score. I’ll score.’ So, that’s really what it was. I love that. It’s not the first time. I appreciate him.

“The part I love is he loves to play the game and he wants to help his team win. It’s not a selfish thing. That’s not what it is. I understand that. As much as he bumps into me, I get after him and we understand that. He just caught me off balance.”

Ultimately, it’s clear that Reid was unbothered and the team went on to win the game.
